Word from the Principal

Welcome to Mother Lode Christian School where we do “all things Jesus:” from the way we love each other as a staff, sharpening and encouraging one another in the Savior’s ways, to the way we “work as if we are working for the Lord” not only in how we teach the children, but in how we disciple them in Christ. We strive to do all things in accordance with the will of God for His name’s sake.

We know that what we pour into the children today will affect what they pour out for the rest of their lives. The skills and work ethic they gain at MLCS as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, historians, and musicians will open doors for them as they reach adulthood, enabling them to become the next generation of committed workers and leaders over businesses and governing institutions, educational and health facilities, churches, and community organizations. The love for God and obedience to Him that they will gain as they learn the Bible, participate in worship, and are mentored to walk in His ways, will be both a light and sword for them in the world that we live in.

Whether you are a family whose children attend MLCS, a volunteer who values a Christian education, a staff member who has chosen to devote his/her professional career to serving here, or a donor who has learned the value of putting your money where your heart is, we humbly thank you for your support in furthering the ministry here at Mother Lode Christian. May God bless you and keep you in His ways.

Stephanie Torok – Principal

It is with great joy and honor that I serve as the principal of Mother Lode Christian School. I told the LORD many years ago that my life is His to do with as He sees fit. To follow any other path would never bring success or fulfillment.

I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies (math, English, and United States history) and teaching credentials from University of California at Santa Barbara. I hold both a Multiple Subject Credential as well as supplemental credentials to teach single subject math and English through the twelfth grade. After teaching for many years in the public system, I was also trained at a national level to become an expert in language arts to provide teacher training throughout the state that helped many districts move away the failed “whole language” teaching strategies back to a strong phonemic awareness and phonics-based approach, along with clear strategies for comprehension and the writing process. I served in that capacity for five years.

In addition to spending twenty-one years as an elementary school teacher and trainer, I served full-time as the Director of Christian Education at a local church and remained there for thirteen years. The LORD has now seen fit to use all He has equipped me with to oversee the education of children and their teachers while they are discipled in Christ here at MLCS.

To serve in such a position here in the mountains where my husband and I both grew up is an added blessing. We love Tuolumne County and MLCS, where my husband attended school. After thirty-seven years of marriage and raising two children we know the values of loving and obeying God, maintaining a strong marriage, being part of a healthy church body, obtaining an excellent education, and putting our money where our mouths are. We understand that our generation will pass away and that it is our children and grandchildren who will soon be called to take up the torch of Christ to shed light in an ever-increasing dark world.

May the LORD direct you and keep you walking in His ways. If He happens to call you to walk alongside us here at MLCS, even for just a time, I pray that you find it to be a great blessing
